Rough Terrain Forklift

At construction sites and other kinds of environments where the surface is not paved, the rough terrain forklift is recommended. This kind of forklift is used to shuttle materials around lumberyards.

These forklifts are designed for rough terrain. Then again, the machinery is top heavy and should be handled carefully in rough areas. The machinery should be level with all tires on the ground when lifting.

At faster speeds, steering is harder. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not set speed limits on forklifts. However, drivers are responsible for operating forklifts at a speed which is safe, specially when driving on rough terrain and when turning.

Not lifting a load while operating on an incline will avoid tipping over. The load must be on the uphill side of the machine if driving up an incline. If driving down a slope, backing down is a good safety practice.
