Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries during the year 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed clients and hence, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, since the need for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, as the demand for new machinery to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into production with man-lifts, articulated booms, light towers telehandlers and stick booms.
Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values as a result of the economic downturn during the start of the 2000s, when they partnered along with Terex. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers all around the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their clients. The company is devoted to continually improving quality and efficiency and is also dedicated to lessening waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC equipment are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machinery has to be driven significant distances, such as in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machinery with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
As opposed to any of the various kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach overall. These machinery are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These machines deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
