Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to store pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas tidy. The reach truck comes in several models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular model consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This version is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is required in warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
