A kind of machinery in the material handling business which can be used to raise and transport loads from one location to another is called a forklift. Each part of a forklift has a specific function. Different components can be used to move the load either horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The parts used to lower and lift the load is known as the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts used for lifting loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you could power a forklift: electric, gas, diesel and propane. The battery is located in the cab under the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is underneath the rear of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is positioned within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all situated in the cab.
Frame
The frame of the truck carries all the largest parts of the forklift, including the counterweights, which are situated at the rear so as to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
