Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
A particular type of heavy equipment that enables an individual to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These machinery are normally utilized to complete repairs on areas that are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Like most tools, there are different types of aerial lifts that can be used to perform a variety of jobs. For the utmost safety, each and every kind of different kind of machine needs right training and specific certification prior to using it.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are normally referred to as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic type of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly used for indoor applications. Typically, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts can be driven like big carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they can not be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can use these devices, workers should be licensed as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are much more complex pieces of aerial lift machine. A boom lift has a wide base to be able to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket which enables the operator to raise and lower the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it can also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Usually, it is utilized in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run than scissor lifts, therefore, operators must be licensed separately for these types of lifts.
