Rough terrain lift trucks are currently common on most construction sites. Rough terrain machines could handle materials of each type from roof beams to plywood stacks to concrete blocks. Some of the larger units use a telescoping boom that has lift capacities of as much as 10,000 lbs. or 4540 kg. These models often have vertical reaches of as much as 12 meters or 40 feet with forward reaches of 25 feet or 7 meters, even more. Normally, these units are able to catch through openings as low as 2 meters or 8 feet high, to be able to gain access to the interior of a structures and feature a low-profile design. Various configurations are available like for instance 2 and 4 wheel steering, as well as 4 wheel crab steering, which means all wheels are turned in the same direction.
